MD PROGRAM
In the United States, a Doctor of Medicine (MD) awarded by medical
schools are also known as "Professional
Doctorate” and is accredited by the Liaison
Committee on Medical Education (LCME),
an independent body sponsored by the
Association of American Medical Colleges,
and the American Medical Association (AMA).
Before entering medical
school, students are required to complete a four- year undergraduate
degree. Before graduating from a medical school and being awarded the Doctor of Medicine degree, students are required to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 and both the clinical knowledge and clinical skills parts of Step 2. The MD degree
is typically earned in four years. Following the awarding of the MD,
physicians who wish to practice in the United States are required to
complete at least one internship year (PGY-1) and pass the USMLE
Step 3.

Doctor of Medicine Program
Phase 1: Pre-Medical Program
The Pre-Medical program is designed for students who have completed secondary
school in the science pathway and requires the relevant pre-requisites in science, mathematics and general education courses to gain entry into the Doctor of Medicine respectively. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be prepared to meet the entrance requirements of their chosen health care fields.
Phase 2: Basic Medical Science
The Doctor of Medicine program is derived mainly from the American Medical Education System.
This program is structured in two phases- Phase 1: Basic Medical Science and
Phase 2: Clinical Clerkship. At Atlanta Medical Education Group, a solid science foundation is essential for the Basic Medical Sciences. Students are required to complete about 137 credit hours of course work in 5 semesters with each semester consisting 16 weeks.
The Basic Medical Science courses are presented in lecture format and power point presentations, combined with laboratory exposure to allow for visual reinforcement and development of analytical skills.
Atlanta Medical Education Group requires students to pass the NBME Comprehensive Basic Science Exam before proceeding with the Clinical Clerkship. The strong preparation provided by the Basic Medical Science courses support the student in achieving this important transition
Phase 3: Clinical Rotation/Clerkship
In the Clinical clerkship program, there is an emphasis on preparing students for practice in hospital and ambulatory settings. We have developed innovative ways to teach medical students the clinical skills they will need to function as a physician. The core clinical clerkship includes 44 weeks of family medicine, paediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics & gynaecology, surgery and psychiatry, with 28-week electives in various departments in hospital settings.
The program in USA is conducted at ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) which is affiliated with teaching hospitals through our clinical administration office located in Atlanta Medical Center. To undergo the Clinical Clerkship Program in USA, a student should complete the Basic Science Program along with USMLE Step I.
Phase 4: Matching Program (US residency)
Matching Program US residency Licensed Physician. After the completion of Clinical Rotation, USMLE Step 2CK, students are eligible to select the matching Program.doing clinical attachments and passing the USMLE Step 3 will improve big time your chance to match good residency program in USA.
